Shopping for Tween Girls

My family has officially entered the "everything and everyone is embarrassing" phase. This is 100% because we have a tween in our home. Our daughter Sunny is entering middle school next year and is VERY opinionated. She's most opinionated when it comes to what she wears. Everything I pick out for her is apparently not cool anymore. I don't strive to be the cool mom but also do not want to be the embarrassing mom. Ew!!!

I'm technically able to create this post because my sweet girl doesn't check my blog so I can't embarrass her here. 😉 I hope this saves other tween mommas some $ and prevents at least one argument. I refuse to pay for Lululemon, Gold Hinge, & Aviator Nation when Sunny is constantly growing out of her clothing. I also don't have the patience to look for these brands at thrift stores and on Poshmark. (Kudos to those who do). In addition, I love a good dupe so naturally Amazon is my go-to for shopping on the fly.

The first Amazon clothing hit with Sunny were a pair of "butterfly shorts" (pictured above). We have them in multiple colors and she wears them weekly. She most recently is favoring the pleated tennis skirt, (great Gold Hinge dupe) and dry fit t-shirts, (great Lulu dupes). Athleisure is her staple style for school and on weekends. She also loves Nike shorts, Nike tube socks and oversized sweatshirts. (Yes we own the Amazon Lululemon Scuba sweatshirt dupe pictured above).

Thanks to Amazon things were going well in the tween clothing world until Cotillion. Insert conversation about why athletic wear is not always appropriate. Thankfully the sweet ladies who run our local cotillion created a detailed description of what girls & boys could/could not wear when attending cotillion. After some heated arguments about why my daughter had to attend cotillion and why she couldn't wear tennis skirts & Nikes we entered the Amazon again in search of proper attire. Sunny requested skirts because quote, "dresses are for toddlers mom." (Okay)! We quickly found the tiered skirts and scalloped edge tops pictured above. We ordered. They arrived. They were approved! I swear I wore the same tops in the early 90's but they were a hit. Thank you Amazon!

Next up bras & swimsuits. We needed padding but not too much padding. Skin but not too much skin. Amazon again came through with the perfect solutions. We ordered the bras and swimsuits above and...hallelujah!! Mom & kid approved!

Below are the links for each item pictured above. We have purchased them over the last 2 years and she still fits in them due to elastic waist bands and stretchy material.

All Amazon links are below and I wish you a
